Amor fati

Amor fati is a Latin phrase loosely translated as, “love of one’s fate.”  It is the belief that everything that happens in one’s life, including suffering and loss, should be seen as good and part of our destiny’s way of reaching its higher purpose.  It says “yes” to life in all its pain and joy.  It allows for no resentment of the circumstances of our lives because, had they been different, we would not have become who we are.  And it is anything but passive.  Amor fati calls us to be active participants in all the events of our lives.  And therein lies our most compelling choice.

We can be indifferent or fully engaged.  We can continue to live a lie or acknowledge what is true.  We can give up and quit or smile through our tears and try again.  We can be victims or we can be spiritual warriors.  Every journey deserves a hero.  Why not become the hero of our own journey?
